For some college students, finding time to travel is hardly as difficult as finding the money to travel. Many Arizonans tend to gravitate to our neighbor state, California, for a "quick trip." Even still, by airplane, bus, or personal transportation, making it to the Golden State for less than a couple hundred dollars can be difficult.

But have no fear, penny pinching, vacation needing-students. Megabus has come to the rescue! A relatively new business to the United States, Megabus offers affordable tickets for bus rides between popular cities. With the business still growing, the service is currently limited to 21 cities within the U.S., including Arizona's own, Tempe.

So what makes Megabus so special? Aside from the relatively fast transportation, Megabus offers ticket prices for as low as $1.00 (not including $.50 reservation fee)! That's right - one hundred pennies, twenty nickels, ten dimes, or four quarters. However you put it, it's a deal.

Depending on the reservation date, travel day(s), and demand for seats, the cost per ticket may vary. Although not all ticket prices are as low as $1.00, you can snag up most tickets for less than a Jackson (twenty dollars).

Elizabeth Herrera thinks Megabus sounds like a great opportunity, exclaiming, "I would take a trip on the Megabus! It's cheap, no gas, and you don't have to worry about your car breaking down in the middle of nowhere. If I could go to L.A. every weekend for fewer than 20 bucks count me in!" Elizabeth is not alone; many Glendale Community College students said that they would love to take a ride on the Megabus.

The Tempe pick-up station is located on the east side of College Avenue between 6th and 7th streets and makes daily trips to Union Station in Los Angeles. Like any form of public transportation, there are some terms and conditions. One piece of standard sized luggage, weighing no more than 50 pounds, is the maximum amount of luggage allowed per person. With this said, passengers are allowed to bring one small carry-on bag that will fit in the overhead storage compartments. Furthermore, you must be at least 18 years old to reserve tickets for Megabus, and over the age of 15 to ride without being accompanied by an adult.
