Southwestern College's Associated Student Organization tried to evoke Lennon, Gandhi and King at Peace Fest, a day of entertainment and positive vibe.

With four stages throughout the campus filled with entertainment and a positive vibe, the ASO was able to communicate its wish for a better world.

Admit it. The only real reason you bought that frumpy gown and got up at 8 a.m. to sit in a convention center was so that your parents would take you out to dinner afterward. Heck, that's the only reason you put up with college in the first place. Since you've been waiting for so long, here are some of our recommendations:

Older but wiser: Random picks for summer reading

According to tradition, if you read at all over the summer, you're supposed to spend your days engrossed in "chick lit" - chiefly identifiable by their covers, which inevitably feature blurry photos of women with their faces obscured or magazine-style caricatures of women wearing sunglasses and eating chocolate - on a beach towel while gazing serenely out on the ocean.

Spanish Club Advisor Mercedes Limon has been working hard since 2007 to bring an International Theatrical to Chaffey.

"A Spanish language performance will be brought to Chaffey in September 2008," Limon said. "Although it will be performed in Spanish, there will be an English translation, and we are in the works of finalizing the process.

Superhero movies of the past decade or so have more or less fit into four distinct tonal categories. There's dark and brooding (Batman Begins), light and wholesome (Spiderman) somewhere in between (Hellboy), and too terrible to categorize (Daredevil, Catwoman, Ghost Rider, Hulk, Catwoman, Elektra, Fantastic Four, Catwoman, and the list goes on).
